Microsoft Windows 11

my laser jet m234sdw won't connect to the internet.  The wifi light blinks.  At one time during set up the wifi light stayed on, but not anymore.  Would like to print a user manual but can't.

Hi @mynameisac,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP LaserJet MFP M234sdw is having trouble maintaining a stable Wi-Fi connection. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

1. Restart Your Devices

  • Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Router: Restart your router to refresh the connection.
  • Computer: Restart your computer as well.

2. Check Network Settings

  • Ensure that your printer is within range of the Wi-Fi signal.
  • Verify that your Wi-Fi network is working properly by connecting another device (like a phone or laptop) to it.
  • Make sure there are no network restrictions, such as MAC address filtering, that could prevent your printer from connecting.

3. Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

Method 1: Using the HP Smart App

  1. Download and install the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store.
  2. Open the HP Smart App and follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer and reconnect it to the Wi-Fi network.

Method 2: Using the Printer’s Control Panel

  1. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button until it starts blinking.
  2. Press and hold the WPS button on your router until the connection process begins. The wireless light on the printer should stop blinking and stay solid when connected.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart App or by visiting the HP Support website.

5. Factory Reset the Printer

If none of the above steps work, you may need to reset the printer to its factory settings:

  1. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons simultaneously until the Ready light blinks.
  2. This will restore the printer to its default network settings. You can then follow the connection steps again.

6. Check for Interference

  • Ensure that there are no physical obstructions or electronic devices that might interfere with the Wi-Fi signal, such as microwaves, cordless phones, or thick walls.

I hope this helps.

I have been trying to set up a new laser jet m234sdw for days.  I can't get it to connect to the internet.  I have tried all the suggestions but they haven't worked.  The status says it is not connected.  Is there any way to connect it to my lap top with a USB cable?  I am getting frustrated not having any luck.
