I have been using hp laserjet pro m12w for years. I just moved, and somehow I cannot print anymore. So I uninstalled the printer, downloaded the exe file here https://support.hp.com/tw-zh/drivers/hp-laserjet-pro-m11-m13-printer-series/model/9365409

Installation: choose wifi setup, connect USB cable, then unable to go on anymore, because installation cannot find SSD.

Hi @Takajos,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're encountering during the installation of the HP LaserJet Pro M12w is related to the software installation process not being able to proceed because it cannot find an SSD (Solid State Drive). This is unusual since the printer installation does not typically involve an SSD, and it seems like there might be a miscommunication with the installation steps.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Ensure USB Connection is Proper:

  • Double-check that the USB cable is properly connected to both your printer and your computer.
  • Use a different USB port on your computer if possible, or try another USB cable to rule out any connection issues.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug the printer back in and power it on.

Reboot Computer:

  • Restart your computer to ensure there are no conflicting processes interfering with the installation.

Manually Add Printer via Windows Settings:

Instead of relying on the installation package, you can try adding the printer manually through your system settings:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select Add a Printer or Scanner and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • If Windows cannot find the printer automatically, you can manually install the driver by selecting The printer that I want isn't listed and then choosing the option to add it using its IP address or hostname.

Download Latest Driver and Firmware:

Ensure that you are downloading the latest driver from the official HP support website for your HP LaserJet Pro M12w.

Check for Other Devices:

Make sure no other external drives or devices are connected that could interfere with the installation. Disconnect external drives, USBs, or any other peripherals that might be detected as a storage device.

Use HP Smart App (if applicable):

If the installation package still doesn't work, try installing the printer via the HP Smart App. You can download the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store or Apple Store, which may help you set up the printer wirelessly.

Check Printer’s Wireless Settings:

If you are trying to set up the printer via WiFi, ensure the printer is properly connected to the network:

  • Print a configuration page directly from the printer to check its wireless settings.
  • If the printer is not connected to WiFi, you may need to reconnect it using WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) or by connecting it manually through the USB connection first.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
