@Debbie0109, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 8015e is not printing in color even after cleaning and installing new cartridges, here are some steps to help troubleshoot the issue:
Check Cartridge Installation
- Ensure the color cartridge is correctly installed and clicked into place.
- Verify that you're using genuine HP cartridges.
Print a Test Page
- On the printer control panel, go to:
- Setup > Reports > Print Quality Report
- This will help determine if the issue is with the printer hardware or software.
Check Printer Settings on Windows 11
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
- Right-click your HP OfficeJet 8015e > Printing Preferences
- Under the Paper/Quality tab, ensure:
- Color is selected (not grayscale or black & white)
Run Printhead Cleaning
- On the printer:
- Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead
- You may need to run this 2–3 times if the color is still missing.
Update Printer Firmware
- Visit HP Support page
- Enter your printer model and install the latest firmware.
Check Ink Levels
- On the printer screen or via the HP Smart app, check if the color cartridge shows as full.
- If it's low or empty despite being new, it might be defective.
Try Printing from Another App
- Sometimes, the issue is app-specific. Try printing a color document from:
- Word
- Photos
- HP Smart app
If the Issue Persists:
- Try removing and reinstalling the HP Smart app.
- Reset the printer to factory defaults:
- Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
