Same problem as everyone has had for YEARS with this printer and HP does NOTHING. No new driver, nothing. Error message every time you try to connect it to wifi. Why is it that everyone has the same problem with this piece of junk?

Hi @PJ322,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I’m sorry to hear about the ongoing issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610. Wi-Fi connectivity problems can indeed be frustrating, especially if they seem to persist despite troubleshooting. Here are some steps that might help resolve the issue.
Reset Network Settings
- Go to the printer’s Control Panel.
- Navigate to Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults. This will reset all network settings.
Update Printer Firmware
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the printer’s control panel or by visiting the HP Support website.
Reboot Your Network
- Turn off your router and printer. Wait for about 30 seconds, then turn them back on. This can help reset connections.
Use the HP Smart App
- Download the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer. The app often simplifies the process of connecting to Wi-Fi.
- Open the app, select your printer, and follow the prompts to connect it to Wi-Fi.
Check Wi-Fi Settings
- Ensure that the Wi-Fi network you’re trying to connect to is functioning correctly. Check if other devices can connect to the network.
- Ensure the SSID (network name) and password are correct.
Change Wireless Mode on the Router
- If your router supports different wireless modes (e.g., 802.11b/g/n), try changing it to a compatible mode that your printer can connect to.
Firewall/Router Settings
- Sometimes, router settings or firewall settings can block the printer. Check your router settings to ensure that there’s no MAC filtering or other restrictions enabled.
Reinstall Printer on Network
- Remove the printer from your devices list, then try adding it back using the HP Smart app or the standard printer setup process.
Manual IP Address Setup
- Sometimes assigning a static IP address to the printer can help. You can find instructions on the HP website for how to do this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
