Hi @leo1938,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 printer is connected to Wi-Fi and the internet but is showing an offline status for HP Instant Ink, try the following steps to resolve the issue.
Check Internet Connectivity
- Make sure your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
- Print a network configuration page to confirm the network status:
- Go to the printer's control panel.
- Navigate to Setup > Reports > Network Configuration.
Update HP Smart App
- Ensure you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app on your device.
- Update the app if necessary.
Re-Register Printer for Instant Ink
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Go to the Printers section.
- Select your printer, then click on Manage.
- Look for an option to register for Instant Ink and follow the prompts.
Reset Network Settings on the Printer
- On the printer control panel, go to Settings.
- Select Network > Restore Network Settings.
- Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Check HP Instant Ink Status
- Visit the HP Instant Ink website and log in to your account.
- Check the status of your printer. It may need to be re-linked to your Instant Ink account.
Printer Firmware Update
- Ensure your printer firmware is up to date:
- Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Firmware on the printer control panel.
Reboot Devices
- Restart your printer, router, and the device you are using to connect to the printer.
These steps should help you reconnect your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 to the Instant Ink service.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
