hp officejet pro 8725
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

had to replace/change ethernet cabling, printer not connecting to instant ink, offline etc. so removed device from windows, uninstalled software. printer can be seen and used by others but not the pc that is connected to instant ink account - other than using basic windows driver. hp smart, print doctor etc cannot find printer (tho windows can - ethernet and fixed ip just as before). can't use any web services including instant ink as 'not connected'  other than shouting how bad hp software is, what can i do before giving up altogether please?

Greetings Solent,

first step to make sure Printer and PC are communicating to each other by following these steps

1. check and make sure the PC is connected to same router and is able to access Internet and then try pinging to OJ8725 Printer. If you're unable to ping then turn off router, printer and PC, and restart them  - first the Router, then Printer and finally PC, then make sure Printer and PC have the IP address from same Router, try to ping again.

2. then install software again and setup the device on the PC you want it to work. sometimes, removing software means reinstalling the entire software again and setting it up all over.

3. after successful installation and test print and scan. you can setup instant ink

the steps  to connect the printer to internet and instant ink are  below

4. enable Web services on Printer control panel, refer below videos to enable web services: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hrt2LI84M4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckSNc7kiceQ

5. then login to Instant ink account and check the printer status for Online, if it is online then it is connected.

hope this can help.

Thankyou! it took a couple of goes and I have had to remove half the installed junk I don't want but the real trick was your order of process - I had tried the on/off but not done it in that order - duely noted for next time!
