Hi @billcooke1
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 8135e printer is not connecting to Wi-Fi, there are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get it connected:
1. Check Wi-Fi Network
Make sure that your Wi-Fi network is working properly and that other devices can connect to it without issues. If you're experiencing Wi-Fi issues, try restarting your router.
2. Reset Printer's Network Settings
Resetting your printer’s network settings can help it reconnect to your Wi-Fi network. Here’s how to do it:
- Step 1: On the printer's control panel, press the Wireless icon or navigate to Setup.
- Step 2: Go to Network Settings.
- Step 3: Select Restore Network Settings or Reset Network Settings. This will reset the printer’s wireless connection to factory defaults.
Once the settings are reset, the printer should be ready to reconnect to a Wi-Fi network.
3. Re-connect Printer to Wi-Fi
Now, you need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. You can do this in two ways:
Method 1: Using the Printer's Control Panel
- Step 1: On the printer's display screen, navigate to the Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Step 2: Select your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.
- Step 3: Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted.
The printer should now connect to your Wi-Fi network.
Method 2: Using the HP Smart App
- Step 1: Download and install the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer if you haven't already.
- Step 2: Open the app, then select Set Up a New Printer.
- Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions to select your printer and connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
4. Check the Wireless Signal
Ensure that your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router. If the signal strength is weak, you may want to move the printer closer to the router or use a Wi-Fi extender to boost the signal.
5. Update Printer Firmware
Sometimes, an outdated firmware version can cause connectivity issues. Check for any available firmware updates for your printer:
- Step 1: Go to HP Support and search for your printer model (HP 8135e).
- Step 2: Download and install the latest firmware updates for your printer.
I hope this helps.
