Hi @mjg6300,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble adding a scan-to-email shortcut on your HP Envy 6555e printer, and the "Add Shortcut" option appears greyed out. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:
1. Ensure that HP Smart App is Up-to-date:
- Make sure you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app. Sometimes, outdated software can cause features like the "Add Shortcut" to be disabled.
2. Check Account and Login Status:
- Make sure you are logged into your HP account within the HP Smart app. Certain features, like adding custom shortcuts, may only be available when logged into an HP account.
3. Ensure Printer is Connected to the Internet:
- The shortcut feature relies on the printer being online. Confirm that your printer is properly connected to your WiFi network, and there are no connectivity issues.
4. Check for Feature Availability:
- Some features, like creating shortcuts for email, may require enabling Web Services on the printer. You can do this by:
- Opening the HP Smart app.
- Going to the Printer Settings.
- Ensuring that HP Web Services are enabled. If it’s not enabled, follow the prompts to activate it.
5. Factory Reset the Printer (Optional):
- If you have tried the above steps without success, you can attempt a factory reset on your printer:
- On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Restore Settings.
- Choose Restore Factory Defaults.
- After the reset, reconnect the printer and try adding the shortcut again.
6. Clear Cache/Temporary Files on HP Smart App (Mobile):
- If you're using the HP Smart app on a mobile device, try clearing the app's cache or uninstalling and reinstalling it.
