i am trying to set up an HP 4650 wireless printer.  It asks for a WPS #.  The number displayed on the printer screen is not being accepted.  What do I have to do to get this printer working?

@red159, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're trying to reconnect your HP OfficeJet 4650 printer to Wi-Fi and it's asking for a WPS PIN. I’ll guide you through the steps to get your printer connected.

What is the WPS PIN?

The WPS PIN is a security code generated by your printer to establish a secure wireless connection with your router. It’s not printed on the router or printer, it appears on the printer screen during setup.

Option 1: Connect Using WPS PIN

  1. On the printer control panel, go to:
    • Setup (gear icon) > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wi-Fi Protected Setup > PIN.
  2. The printer will display an 8-digit WPS PIN on the screen.
  3. On your computer, within 2 minutes, go to:
    • Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a printer.
    • Select your printer and when prompted, enter the WPS PIN.
  4. The printer should now connect to your Wi-Fi network.

If the PIN is not accepted, make sure:

  • You enter it within 90–120 seconds.
  • Your router supports WPS PIN method (some routers only support WPS Push Button).

Option 2: Connect Using WPS Push Button (Easier)

  1. On the printer, go to:
    • Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wi-Fi Protected Setup > Push Button.
  2. When prompted, press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes.
  3. The printer will automatically connect to the network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
