Hey @Lelenumb,
Thank you for your response
Simpler Authentication Process
Open networks don’t require authentication (like WPA2 passwords), so:
The printer doesn’t need to handle encryption/decryption.
There's no chance of password mismatch or encryption protocol issues.
Compatibility Issues
They may not support WPA3 or even certain WPA2 configurations.
If your secured network uses a complex encryption setting, the printer might fail to connect.
Network Configuration
Open networks often have fewer restrictions (e.g. MAC filtering, firewalls, isolation settings).
Your printer may be blocked or limited on the secured network due to router settings.
You may try the following:
Try WPA2-Personal (AES) on your 2.4 GHz network if it’s not already.
Double-check your password for typos during setup.
Reset the printer's network settings, then try reconnecting to the secured network again.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

@Lelenumb, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Refer printer's User manual for printer specific steps.
1. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings
- Turn off your printer.
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer.
- While holding the Wi-Fi button, turn the printer back on.
- Keep holding the Wi-Fi button until the light blinks quickly, indicating that the network settings have been reset.
This clears any old Wi-Fi credentials, allowing you to reconfigure the printer for the new network.
2. Reconfigure Printer Wi-Fi Setup
- Press the Wi-Fi button on the printer again (it should blink rapidly if it’s not already connected).
- Use the printer’s control panel to reconnect it to your new Wi-Fi.
Alternatively, you can use the HP Smart app or the printer's web-based setup page (accessed via the printer's IP address) to connect the printer to Wi-Fi.
3. Check Your Router’s Compatibility
- Ensure that the Wi-Fi network is using the 2.4 GHz frequency, as the LaserJet P1102W may not be compatible with 5 GHz networks.
- If your new router is dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), make sure the printer is connecting to the correct band.
You may also refer these guides:
- Restore Wi-Fi setup
- HP Printer Wi-Fi setup
- HP printer setup (Mac built-in driver)

- Troubleshoot a Wi-Fi connection
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
