I understand you are trying to close the scan option on your HP Color Laser MFP 178nw, you can try one of the following methods:
 

Return to the Main Menu:

  • On the printer's control panel, press the back or home button (depending on the model). This should return you to the main menu or the previous screen, exiting the scan mode.

Cancel the Scan Operation:

  • If the printer is actively scanning or in the scan preparation mode, press the cancel button (typically marked with a red X) to stop the scan operation and return to the default screen.

Turn the Printer Off and On:

  • If you're unable to exit the scan mode using the buttons, turning the printer off and on again will reset it and return to the default state.
