I have an HP M277 printer. I recently setup a Google nest wifi router. i have two wifi networks with separate SSIDs. One is a 2.4 and the other is a combo 2.4 and 5 sharing the same SSID. If I try to connect to just the 2.4 it connects but doesn't give out an IP address. If i try to connect to the combo 2.4/5 one it connects but doesn't give out the IP address. I know you say that this printer will only connect to a 2.4 and I have done that but it still doesn't give out an IP address. There is something else wrong here. Please help.

You need to assign a fixed IP address to the printer since you have a mesh system.
You may need to do a factory reset. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTCJ9fvKRz8&ab_channel=CoronaTechnical |
If allowed, can you connect ethernet cable to the modem?
If so, get a network report from the printer and made a note of the IP address
Log into the modem, find the DHCP allocation, lookup the IP address and make the allocation fixed
---if you must use WiFi--
Connect the printer to the 2.4ghz band
This video shows how to connect using a smart phone

Alternate method to get on network (HP Official)

Get a configuration report, page 104
The PINs and Passwords should show up. Here is the important stuff from a typical printer report. The password shown in WiFi can be the printers PIN or the modem's password depending on how you connected to the modem. The printer can have two bands but the only one that is connected will show up.
LAN | STATUS | IP address | SSID | Password |
WiFi | enabled | 192.168.1.15 | ATT-ARRIS-2 .4 | GuessAgain |
WiFi-direct | enabled | 192.168.23.1 | DIRECT-WHATEVER | BadGuess |
Wired | disabled | |||
USB | disabled |

Log into the modem, go to the DHCP allocation, lookup the IP address and set the IP address as fixed.
Let me know if there is a problem as there might be another way to configure the printer without logging into the modem.
