HP LaserJet M110we Printer

My m110we printer went offline the other day with a solid orange exclamation point and I have not been able to get it reconnected to my WIFI since then. Holding the WIFI button for 20+ seconds doesn't get it into setup mode and when I have been able to get it into setup mode, it just goes back to the solid orange exclamation point. I've gone through all the troubleshooting steps with the virtual assistant and since the warranty expired a few months back I can't get help from HP. I'm at a loss as to what to try next. Hard to believe how terrible printer companies are at making their products easy to use.

Hi @IROCET,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I can understand how frustrating this situation must be, especially when you’ve tried everything and the printer still won’t reconnect. Let’s go through a few questions and steps to see if we can get your HP M110we printer back online.

  • When you’re trying to put the printer into setup mode, does it display any other lights or messages, or does it just revert to the solid orange exclamation point right away?
  • Have you made any changes to your router or network settings recently, like switching to a new Wi-Fi password or updating your router firmware?
  • Is the printer placed near the router, or could there be any possible interference or weak signal affecting the Wi-Fi connection?

Perform a Power Cycle on the Printer and Router: Unplug both your printer and router for 30 seconds. Plug the router back in first and let it fully restart. Then, plug the printer back in. This can help reset network settings and resolve minor connectivity issues.

Manually Reset the Printer’s Network Settings: If you can access the printer’s control panel or buttons, perform a network reset. Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds (depending on the model). This should reset all network settings and allow you to reconnect to Wi-Fi.

Re-enter Wi-Fi Setup Mode Using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup): If the printer supports WPS, press the WPS button on your router and then press the Wi-Fi button on your printer for 5 seconds. The printer should attempt to connect to the router without needing to enter the Wi-Fi password manually.

Manually Connect the Printer Using HP Smart or Web Interface: Open the HP Smart app or access the printer’s web interface (type the printer’s IP address in a browser). You can try connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network directly from there by selecting the Wi-Fi settings and entering the correct network credentials.

Check for Router Compatibility and Settings: Ensure that your router is set to broadcast on the 2.4GHz band, as many printers, including the M110we, can have trouble connecting to 5GHz networks. Also, double-check that the router’s firewall or MAC filtering is not blocking the printer from connecting.

I'm not sure what fixed my issue but I left the printer unplugged for a day and then tried the setup again and it worked. Not sure why it wouldn't work following the troubleshooting steps or why just unplugging for a day allowed it to finally complete the setup. I still believe printer setup is unnecessarily cumbersome compared to all other Wi-Fi enabled devices.

The solid orange exclamation point has returned and I can't get the printer online again. I did a factory reset of the printer and I was able to get it set up using the HP app, but it only stays connected for a minute or two and then I get the solid orange exclamation point again.
