Hi @tonitig ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Envy Photo 7858 printer is not communicating with your Windows 11 desktop, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
- Check Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your desktop. If you're using a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the computer. If you're using a wireless connection, make sure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your desktop.
- Printer Status: Check the status of your printer. Make sure it is powered on and not displaying any error messages or warning lights.
- Printer Queue: Check the printer queue on your computer to see if there are any pending print jobs. Sometimes, print jobs can get stuck in the queue, which can prevent new jobs from printing.
- Restart Devices: Try restarting both your printer and your desktop. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve communication issues.
- Update Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website. Installing updated drivers can often resolve compatibility issues. Software and Drivers for HP ENVY Photo 7858 All-in-One Printer
- Firewall/Antivirus: Check your firewall and antivirus settings to make sure they are not blocking communication between your printer and your desktop. Temporarily disabling your firewall or antivirus software can help determine if they are causing the issue.
- Printer Troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in printer troubleshooter that can help diagnose and fix common printing problems. You can access it by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Printer.
- Reinstall Printer: If none of the above steps work, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the printer on your desktop. To do this, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, select your printer, and then click "Remove device." After removing the printer, you can add it again by clicking "Add a printer or scanner" and following the on-screen instructions.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
