Hi @Jakestar49,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 4100 series printer is showing as offline, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to bring it back online:
1. Check Printer Connection
- Ensure that the printer is powered on and connected to your computer or network (for wireless printers).
- If using a USB connection, check that the cable is securely plugged in.
2. Restart the Printer and Computer
- Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Restart your computer as well to refresh the connection.
3. Set Printer as Default
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP 4100 printer and select Set as default printer.
4. Check Print Queue
- Open the print queue by double-clicking the printer icon in the Devices and Printers section.
- If there are any stuck print jobs, clear them out by selecting Cancel.
5. Use Windows Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Printer and run the troubleshooter.
6. Check Printer Status
- In the printer settings, make sure the option Use Printer Offline is unchecked.
- Right-click on your printer in Devices and Printers and make sure there are no options selected that would keep it offline.
7. Update Printer Drivers
- Make sure you have the latest drivers installed. Visit the HP support website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
8. Network Connection (for Wireless Printers)
- If your printer is wireless, ensure it’s connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
- Print a network configuration page from the printer to check its IP address and connection status.
9. Firewall/Antivirus Settings
- Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block printer communications. Temporarily disable them to see if that resolves the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
