Hi @greg1234567890,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 8610 isn't being detected by your new Mac, even though both are on the same network, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Update Printer Drivers: Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your HP OfficeJet 8610. You can download them from the HP Support website.

Add Printer Manually:

  • Open System Preferences on your Mac.
  • Go to Printers & Scanners.
  • Click the + button to add a new printer.
  • If your printer doesn’t show up automatically, click Add Printer or Scanner or IP.
  • If you choose IP, enter the IP address of your printer (you can find this in the printer’s network settings). Set the Protocol to HP Jetdirect - Socket or Line Printer Daemon - LPD and provide a name for the printer.

Check Printer Network Settings:

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to the network. Print a network configuration page from the printer to verify the IP address and connectivity status.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your Mac and the HP OfficeJet 8610 to refresh the network connections.

Check Firewall and Security Settings:

  • Ensure that your firewall or security software isn’t blocking communication between your Mac and the printer.

Reset Printing System:

  • If all else fails, you can try resetting the printing system on your Mac:
    • Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Right-click (or Control-click) in the list of printers and select Reset printing system.
    • After the reset, add your printer again.

These steps should help in getting your HP OfficeJet 8610 recognized by your new Mac.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
