My printer says is idle until try to print then says is offline. Have tried resetting network, unplugging printer, restarting laptop, resetting network on printer but nothing has changed. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi @13patti,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP ENVY 5052 All-in-One Printer shows "idle" and then goes "offline" during a print job, it’s typically a network communication issue. Here are some additional steps you can try.
Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for the HP ENVY 5052.
- Uninstall the current drivers from your computer (Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right-click on the printer > Remove device).
- Reinstall the downloaded drivers and set up the printer again.
Assign a Static IP Address
- On the printer's control panel, go to Network Settings and write down its IP address.
- Enter the IP address in your web browser to access the printer’s settings page.
- Look for IPv4 Configuration and set a static IP address, keeping it the same as the printer’s current IP.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)
- If you’re using Windows, download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, which can help diagnose and fix connection issues.
Disable "Use Printer Offline"
- Open Devices and Printers on your computer.
- Right-click on your HP ENVY 5052, select See what’s printing, and click on Printer in the top menu.
- Make sure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.
Check Printer IP Address Consistency
- If your network router resets periodically, the IP address might be changing. Confirm the IP address hasn’t changed from the one saved in your computer’s printer settings.
Check for Firmware Updates
- On the printer’s settings panel or via the HP Smart app, check if there’s a firmware update available, as these often contain fixes for connectivity issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
