Hi @TDO17,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When an HP printer is having trouble grabbing paper, there are a few things you can check and try to resolve the issue.
- Paper Condition: Ensure the paper is not stuck together, wrinkled, or curled. Use fresh, unwrinkled paper.
- Paper Tray Alignment: Make sure the paper guides in the tray are snug against the edges of the paper stack.
- Paper Type and Size: Confirm that the paper loaded matches the printer's paper settings. Incorrect paper type or size settings can cause feed issues.
- Clean Rollers: Over time, paper dust and debris can accumulate on the printer's rollers, causing them to slip. Clean the rollers using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water. Refer to your printer's manual for specific instructions on accessing and cleaning the rollers.
- Reset the Printer: Sometimes a simple reset can resolve feeding issues. Turn off the printer, wait a minute, then turn it back on.
- Check for Jams: Even if you don't see a jam, check the paper path for any small pieces of paper that may be stuck.
- Update Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates include fixes for paper feeding issues.
- Adjust Paper Settings: In the printer settings on your computer, verify that the paper type and size settings match the paper loaded in the tray.
These steps should help diagnose and potentially resolve the paper feeding issue with your HP printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
