@needlesmagic, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
If your Wi-Fi router password has changed and your HP Smart Tank printer is no longer connecting, you’ll need to reconnect the printer to your updated network. Here’s how to do it:
Option 1: For Printers with a Touchscreen
- Turn on the printer and place it near your Wi-Fi router.
- On the printer touchscreen, go to:
- Setup or Wireless menu → Network Setup → Restore Network Settings.
- After restoring, go to:
- Wireless Setup Wizard → Select your Wi-Fi network → Enter the new password.
- Wait for the printer to connect. The wireless light should turn solid blue.
Option 2: For Printers Without a Touchscreen
- Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode:
- Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi light blinks blue.
- For Smart Tank 670, 720, 750, 6000, 7000, 7300 series: Press any button to wake the printer, then hold Information for 5 seconds, followed by Wireless + Cancel for 5 seconds.
- Reconnect Using HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com.
- Open the app and follow the prompts to Add Printer and connect it to your Wi-Fi using the new password.
Optional: Print a Wireless Network Test Report
- Go to Wireless or Network Settings on the printer and select Print Wireless Network Test Report to verify connection status.
