Hi @suecass29,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 2540 printer's network light is blinking and the printer remains offline, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Check Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi network.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router to refresh the network.

Restart Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for 30 seconds, then turn it back on.

Reconfigure Wireless Settings:

  • On the printer, go to the wireless setup menu (usually found in the settings or network section) and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.
  • You might need to enter your Wi-Fi network password again.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. You can usually find these on the HP website or via the HP Smart app.

Check Printer’s IP Address:

  • Print a network configuration page from your printer (usually found in the printer’s settings).
  • Ensure that the IP address listed on this page is within the range of your home network.

Re-add Printer to Your Computer:

  • Go to your computer's printer settings and remove the old printer.
  • Add the printer again using the "Add a printer" option and follow the on-screen instructions.

Reset Network Settings:

  • If the above steps don’t work, you may need to reset the network settings on your printer and set it up again from scratch.

Check for Interference:

  • Ensure there are no devices or obstructions that could interfere with the Wi-Fi signal between your printer and router.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
