HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdw
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I just moved into a house that has 2 wifi networks. Not sure about the correct names but one is a 'normal' one (slower) and the other is a 5g (significantly faster one). I have been trying to set up the printer to work over wifi and I seem to have an issue with network selection. The LaserJet I'm trying to set up does not recognize the 5g network, only the other, slower network. But on my laptop I rather work with the 5g for obvious reasons. However, when I'm on the 5g network on the laptop, I am not able to print because the printer is on the 'regular' network. Is there a way for me to remain on the 5g network on the laptop and still print to the LaserJet Pro or do I have to go back and forth? My LaserJet Pro is an older one, maybe that's the problem . . . ?

Hi,

The printer supports a 2.4GHz wireless operations only, it does not support a 5GHz wireless connection

Spoiler
Wireless operations are compatible with 2.4 GHz operations only

A Dual Band router should manage the communication among the different wireless bands so theoretically should allow printing from one band to another, however as you say it doesn't work well on your network, this is something relies on your network and I suggest checking with your network service provider for any router firmware upgrades, etc, or if the network configuration may improved to allow a better communication when connected to different wireless bands, else you would need to move your PC to the 2.4GHz network for printing.

This have nothing much to do with the printer configuration, as the printer is configured and working correctly when both devices work on the same 2.4GHz band, it only relies with the network configuration or capabilities to allow a better operation through the different bands.
