Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

No communication from wifi or bluetooth unit in Envy 6230 - cannot connect to router or mobile 'phone. Cannot print by usb cable as 'instant ink' won't allow use of cartridges after network reset/factory reset. What a complete joke. . Scanned one A4 before computer lost comms. as well! Any ideas, anyone. (Think I'll buy an Epson)

@leedeeb, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that the printer is not connected to the internet. Yes, the Instant Ink service requires internet.

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

  • Make sure the printer and the computer are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

You may also refer to - HP printer setup (Wi-Fi network)

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for your reply - much appreciated. Unfortunately you (like the online support robot) have not fully processed the words' cannot connect to any router or mobile 'phone' . The printer cannot, therefore, detect  any networks or bluetooth devices - the 'search' functions for both merely run  'ad infinitum' or my 'nauseam'!

My query is about whether the wifi/bluetooth circuits can fail or just shutdown and be reset and,if so, how?

I have mentioned how to reset the network settings in my previous post. Yes, the wireless radio in the printer can be turned off or on.

Follow the steps mentioned to turn it on and then connect it to a network.

You may print a test page to check the wireless functionality. A Network Configuration Page lists important network settings such as network status and the printer IP address.

Make sure there is U.S. letter or A4 size, unused, plain paper in the input tray.

On the printer control panel, touch the Setup icon .

Touch Tools.

Swipe down, and then touch Network Configuration Page to print the page, which can be up to three pages long.

Let me know how it goes.

Dear KUMAR0307 Are you a real person or a robot? If you do not answer, I'll know which you are. I am not a robot and I have determined, on my own, that the wireless radio can, indeed, be turned on and off and, do you know, I actually ensured that the wireless switch button was 'on' before I attempted to configure the 'wireless configuration' even though I've had minimal technical training!

I would absolutely love to print out a network report to find out what is wrong, but,as previously stated, the printer won't print because the 'Instant Ink' protocol that HP have installed won't allow the cartridges to be used without an internet connection. YOU SHOULD KNOW ALL THIS BECAUSE I HAVE STATED THIS ALREADY AND YOU ARE, APPARENTLY AN HP EMPLOYEE!

Let me make it simple for you ( I'll insult your intelligence as you have insulted mine):-

IS THERE A GLOBAL RESET FACILITY (I.E A SEQUENCE OF BUTTON PRESSES,SAY, )THAT WILL CLEAR THE CONTROL BOARD ( AND DO NOT RECOMMEND A 'FACTORY DEFAULT RESET' - THAT DOES NOT WORK EITHER)

Have a chat with your colleagues or even a line manager for advice ( Btw I'm happy to accept a new or refurbished printer -  I'll pay the P & P! ).

Let me know how it goes.

I'm sorry you feel that way. We can perform a semi-full reset on the printer. However, if the printer is not able to find any wireless networks, it means the issue is with the wireless radio.

A semi-full reset cannot fix the hardware issue.

I've sent you a private message with further instructions to resolve this issue.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
