my printer never works and it never prints. I've had it for years and it's always taken millions of hoops and tricks to finally print something from my laptop or phone, let alone letting my friends and family use it. I try to send it pdf documents (since that's the only kind of docs it can print) from my laptop and it barely recognizes the printer sometimes despite being on. I convert my file to a PDF and finally can hit print just for the computer to say "Job Failed." and no other suggestion. I've tried using the IP address and the computer's email. I downloaded the HP Smart app on my phone and connected it which sometimes it recognizes it, just for it to finally say that the job has been sent but absolutely nothing happens at the printer, and no active jobs are displayed. please help me fix. my printer is the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series and I work from a Windows 11 laptop so I really don't know what the problem is. Thank you.

Hi @cookie891,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Status

  • Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to your network.
  • Verify that there are no error messages or warning lights on the printer.

2. Restart Devices

  • Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Computer: Restart your Windows 11 laptop.
  • Router: Restart your router to ensure there’s a stable network connection.

3. Check Printer Connection

  • WiFi Connection: Ensure your printer is connected to the same WiFi network as your laptop.
  • Network Configuration: Print a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel to verify its IP address and connection status.

4. Update Printer Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
  • Download and install the latest drivers for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series compatible with Windows 11.

5. Reinstall HP Smart App

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your phone and laptop.
  • Reinstall the app from the HP Smart website or your device’s app store.
  • Set up the printer again using the app.

6. Check Printer Queue

  • On your laptop, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010, then select Open queue.
  • If there are any stuck jobs, cancel them and try printing again.

7. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix printing issues.

8. Check PDF Files

  • Ensure the PDFs are not corrupted. Try printing a different PDF file or another type of document to test.

9. Use IP Address for Printing

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 and select Printer properties.
  • Go to the Ports tab and add a new port using the printer’s IP address.

10. Perform a Factory Reset

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings.
  • Find the Printer Maintenance section and select Restore Factory Defaults.

11. Check Network Security

  • Ensure there are no firewall or antivirus settings blocking the printer’s communication with your laptop.
