Hi @mhsessex49,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0x80070002 typically indicates a configuration problem with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 printer, which can be related to several issues, such as driver problems or network connectivity. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Printer Connection

  • Ensure that the printer is powered on and connected to your network (if using Wi-Fi).
  • If connected via USB, make sure the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the computer.

Restart Devices

  • Restart the printer: Turn it off, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Restart your computer: This can often resolve temporary issues.

Update Printer Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for the latest drivers for the OfficeJet Pro 6960.
  • Download and install any available updates.

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Select Printer and run the troubleshooter to detect and fix issues.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Ensure that your operating system is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.

Reinstall the Printer

  • Remove the printer from your computer:
    • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    • Select your printer and click on Remove device.
  • Add the printer again:
    • Click on Add a printer or scanner and follow the prompts.

Reset the Printer

  • Perform a factory reset on the printer:
    • Go to the printer's control panel.
    • Navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.

Check for Configuration Issues

  • If the printer is part of a network, check if it has a static IP address or DHCP assigned, as conflicts can arise from incorrect settings.
  • Print a network configuration page from the printer's control panel to verify its settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
