@lerner2000, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
The issue you're facing with scanning to your email from the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus may be due to incorrect settings or authentication problems. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Step 1: Verify Email Settings
SMTP Server Settings: Check if the SMTP server settings for your email provider are correctly configured on the printer. You might need to verify the server name, port number, and encryption settings. Common SMTP settings for Outlook include:
- SMTP server: smtp.office365.com
- Port: 587
- SSL should be enabled.
Username and Password: Make sure you have entered the correct email username (full email address) and password.
Authentication: Ensure that the server authentication requirements are met by using the correct credentials:
- Select 'Server requires authentication' and use the option to 'Always use these credentials'.
Step 2: Test the Connection
- From the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS), send a test email to verify the connection settings. This will help you confirm whether the printer can connect to the email server with the current settings.
Step 3: Update Your Email Password
- If you've recently changed your email account password, ensure the updated password is reflected in the printer's email configuration settings.
Step 4: Check Network Settings
- Verify that the printer is connected to the same network as your email server. If using Office 365, the network needs to match the configuration for sending emails.
Step 5: Reconfigure Email Settings
- You might need to fully reconfigure the email settings on your printer. Access the printer's EWS and navigate to the Scan/Digital Send setup, and follow the configuration for SMTP settings again.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
