@marvin74, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is discoverable and working from your laptop but not from your mobile device, here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Network Connection

  • Ensure both your phone and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • If your printer is connected to a different Wi-Fi band (e.g., 5GHz vs 2.4GHz), your phone might not detect it.

Restart Devices

  • Restart your printer, Wi-Fi router, and mobile phone.
  • This often resolves temporary connectivity issues.

Use the HP Smart App

  • Download the HP Smart app from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Open the app and try to add your printer.
  • If it doesn’t show up, tap “Set up a new printer” and follow the instructions.

Enable Wi-Fi Direct (if needed)

  • On the printer, enable Wi-Fi Direct (check the printer’s control panel or manual).
  • On your phone, go to Wi-Fi settings and connect directly to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network.
  • Then try printing from the HP Smart app or directly from a document.

Check Printer Settings

  • Make sure Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct is enabled on the printer.
  • Some printers have a mobile printing mode that needs to be turned on.

Update Firmware and Apps

  • Ensure your printer firmware is up to date (you can check this via the HP Smart app or printer settings).
  • Update the HP Smart app and your phone’s OS to the latest version.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
