My MAC OS Sonoma 14.6.1 all of a sudden does not connect to my HP LASERJET PRO mfp 4301 fdw. They both are connected to the same router. Printer connectivity report says Network is the same and signal strength excellent.
HELP!
Thanks!

Hi @MC0924,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4301 fdw suddenly shows as offline on macOS Sonoma, even though both devices are connected to the same router and have excellent signal strength, there are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get your printer back online:
1. Basic Checks
Restart Devices:
- Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
- Mac: Restart your Mac to refresh the network connections.
Check Printer Status:
- Ensure that the printer is powered on and there are no error messages or warning lights on the printer’s control panel.
2. Verify Network Connection
Print Network Configuration Report:
- From the printer’s control panel, print a network configuration report. Verify that the IP address is correct and matches the network settings of your router.
Confirm Network Connection:
- Ensure that your Mac is connected to the same network as the printer. Go to System Preferences > Network on your Mac to check your network settings.
3. Reconnect the Printer to macOS
Remove and Re-add Printer:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4301 fdw from the list and click the - button to remove it.
- Click the + button to add the printer again. Your Mac should search for available printers and list your printer if it’s correctly connected to the network.
Use the Printer's IP Address:
- If your printer does not appear automatically, click Add Printer or Scanner and select IP at the top of the window.
- Enter the IP address of your printer (from the network configuration report) in the Address field. Choose the appropriate protocol (usually HP Jetdirect - Socket) and click Add.
4. Update Printer Drivers
Check for Updates:
- Visit the HP Support website and search for the latest drivers for your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4301 fdw compatible with macOS Sonoma.
Install Updated Drivers:
- Download and install the latest drivers and software package for your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
