I changed from Xfinity to Direct tv and now the printer is offline. I have tried everything I can think of.

Hi @sadmom1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP Printer is showing offline.

To quickly get it back online, you will need to reconnect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network and update its settings on your computer:

Step 1: Reconnect the Printer to Your New Wi-Fi

Every printer model is different, but this is usually done directly on the printer's screen:

  1. Go to the printer’s Setup, Network, or Wireless settings.

  2. Select the Wireless Setup Wizard.

  3. Choose your new network's name and type in your new Wi-Fi password.
Note: If your printer has a WPS button, you can press it, and then press the WPS/Pair button on your new router to connect without a password.

Step 2: Check the Printer's Queue and Status

Once the printer is on the same network as your computer, make sure your computer knows it's ready:

  • On Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners (or Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners). Click your printer, select Open queue, and at the top, make sure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.

  • On Mac: Go to Apple Menu > System Settings (or System Preferences) > Printers & Scanners. Select your printer and ensure it is marked as idle or ready.

Step 3: Remove and Re-Add the Printer

If it still says offline, your computer might be trying to reach the printer at its old Xfinity IP address:

  1. Go to your printer settings (via the path in Step 2).

  2. Right-click your printer or click the "-" (minus) icon to remove / delete it.

  3. Click Add a printer or the "+" icon to let your computer search and find the newly connected printer on your network.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
