Hi @Hallett96,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is not connecting to your computer and the computer doesn't recognize the printer even when manually entering its IP address, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check the Printer's IP Address:

  • Make sure you have the correct IP address of the printer. You can print a network configuration page from the printer’s settings to verify the IP.
    • For many HP printers, go to Settings > Network Setup > Print Network Configuration Page or refer to your model’s manual for the exact steps.

Verify Printer and Computer Network Connection:

  • Ensure both the printer and your computer are on the same network. If your computer is on a different network (e.g., 5GHz while the printer is on 2.4GHz), they may not communicate.
  • Ping the printer’s IP address from your computer to check if they can communicate.
    • On your computer, open the Command Prompt or Terminal and type:

ping [Printer_IP_Address]

  • If you receive replies, the connection is working. If not, there’s a communication issue.

Restart Devices and Router:

  • Restart both the printer and your computer.
  • Reboot your router as well. This can resolve any temporary network conflicts.

Check for IP Conflicts:

  • Change the printer’s IP address if another device is using the same IP. This can happen if IP addresses are assigned dynamically.
  • Go to the printer’s network settings, and under the IP settings, choose Manual IP and assign a unique static IP address.

Disable Firewall/Antivirus Temporarily:

  • Sometimes, firewalls or antivirus software can block the printer from connecting. Temporarily disable these to see if it helps.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall and reinstall the latest drivers for your HP printer.
    • Go to HP’s official support site, download the correct drivers for your model, and follow the installation steps.

Reset Printer Network Settings:

  • If none of the above work, try resetting the network settings on the printer and reconnecting it to the network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
