I have a MFP M281fdw on a network setup with static IP. Printer has been working. All of a sudden all PC's can't print as the printer shows offline. Tried setting up port with Host name but also fails. Can connect to the printer via web using IP address. Also if using windows add a printer it will setup with WSD port and print to the printer. What is wrong?

Print network configuration page from the printers reports menu to check network settings. Maybe IP changed, maybe the printer is disconnected from your network, maybe the network port failed.

I have the same printer and the same situation re it having always worked before. Mine is a home network, set up with wi-fi with two laptops and neither are printing because of the printer is offline. I tried the HP Doctor and troubleshooting tools and even though it indicated the "Printer offline problem has been fixed," it has not. I only noticed the "Printer Offline" yesterday, December 15 as well. Interesting that it happened around the same time.

Valsimot, I appreciate your replies but you are giving suggestions that are already answered in my prior posts. Originally I stated the printer is setup with a static IP. I added a second printer with WSD that works where the IP printer doesn't work. I can communicate, ping, web access but not print to IP printer.

LuccaM, As a tech I try to look at all angles. About a year ago Microsoft put out a windows security patch that hosed all printing. If you removed it or installed the correcting patch it worked again. I checked the updates and none occurred. Strange all PC's quit printing at same time. Just hoping someone recognizes what happened to the printer. I am assuming printer is issue due to all PC's quitting at same time. My next step is to do a factory reset on printer when customer will allow. As a homeowner, if you could try this that would be great. Please let me know.

Hello LuccaM, Just checking in as when I just went to my customer remotely the printer is no longer showing offline but it is reading out of paper. I won't know till Tuesday when the client is back but it appears it may work. What is your status?
