Hi @LDrake2 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w Printer as an issue printer offline Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Restart Your Devices: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Try restarting both your printer and your Mac.

Check Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your Mac and that both devices are on the same network. You might want to disconnect and reconnect the cables or try connecting via Wi-Fi again.

Printer Settings: Check the printer settings on your Mac. Sometimes printers can be set to "Use Printer Offline" by mistake. To check:

  • Go to System Preferences on your Mac.
  • Click on "Printers & Scanners."
  • Select your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w from the list on the left.
  • Make sure the "Use Printer Offline" option is unchecked.

Reset Printing System: If the issue persists, you can reset the printing system on your Mac. Keep in mind that this will remove all printers from your list, so you'll need to re-add them.

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Ctrl-click) on the list of printers on the left side.
  • Select "Reset printing system."
  • Confirm the action if prompted.

Reinstall Drivers: Since you mentioned installing new drivers recently, it's possible that there was an issue with the installation. Try reinstalling the drivers:

  • Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Install the drivers on your Mac according to the provided instructions.

Firewall/Antivirus Software: Sometimes firewall or antivirus software can block the connection to the printer. Check your security software settings to ensure they are not blocking printer communication.

Check for Updates: Ensure that both your Mac's operating system and the printer firmware are up to date. Sometimes updates can resolve compatibility issues.
