Hi @peackster,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart Tank 6000 printer shows as offline on your PC but works fine with your iPad, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Connection
- USB Connection: If your printer is connected via USB, ensure the cable is secure on both ends.
- Network Connection: If it’s a wireless printer, make sure the PC is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
2. Set Printer to Online
- Open Control Panel: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-Click Printer: Right-click your HP Smart Tank 6000 printer and select See what's printing.
- Set to Online: In the window that opens, click on Printer in the menu and uncheck Use Printer Offline.
3. Update Printer Driver
- Visit HP Support: Go to the HP support website and search for your printer model.
- Download Drivers: Download the latest drivers for your printer and install them.
4. Restart Print Spooler Service
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type services.msc and hit Enter.
- Scroll down to find Print Spooler. Right-click it and select Restart.
5. Reinstall Printer
- Remove Printer: In Devices and Printers, right-click your printer and select Remove device.
- Add Printer Again: Click on Add a printer and follow the prompts to reinstall the printer.
6. Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings
Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block printer communication. Temporarily disable them to see if that resolves the issue. If it does, you may need to create exceptions for the printer.
7. Windows Update
Make sure your Windows is up to date, as updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with printers.
8. Try Different USB Port or Wi-Fi Channel
- If using USB, try a different port on your computer.
- If using Wi-Fi, consider changing the Wi-Fi channel in your router settings.
9. Check Power Settings
Ensure that your computer's power settings aren't set to sleep too quickly, which can affect connectivity.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
