@daniel0204, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
To reset your HP Color LaserJet Pro printer, follow the steps below:
Restart Using the Power Key:
- Press the Power key on the front panel to switch the printer off, wait a few moments, and then press the Power key again to switch it back on.
Use the Reset Key:
- If restarting using the Power key doesn't work, locate the Reset key on the printer's front panel. You may need an implement with a narrow tip (like a paperclip) to press this small button.
Power Cycle the Printer:
- If neither of the above steps has an effect, switch off the printer using the power switch located at the rear of the printer.
- Remove the power cord from the power socket.
- Wait for 10 seconds.
- Insert the power cord back into the power socket and switch on the printer using the power switch.
Check the Power Light:
- Verify that the Power light on the front panel comes on. If it doesn't, use the Power key to switch the printer on.
If you need to reset security settings, such as usernames and passwords, it may involve accessing the Embedded Web Server (EWS):
Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) for Password Reset
Using a Network Connection:
- Ensure your printer is connected to the same network.
- Print a network configuration report to find the IP address.
- Enter the IP address into your web browser's address bar.
Using Wi-Fi Direct:
- Obtain the Wi-Fi Direct name and password by checking the printer's control panel or printing a network configuration report.
- Connect your computer or mobile device to the printer using this Wi-Fi Direct connection.
- Type the IP address (often 192.168.223.1) into a web browser.
Once you access EWS:
- Navigate to the Security tab, where you can change the username and password to secure the connection.
Remember, resetting security settings may require you to reconfigure network settings and other personalized settings.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
