HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw

Hey,

Scanning to network folder is not working. It only say 'scan to network folder not sucessful'. I renewed my IT, so now I am using a Mac mini server with OS Ventura 13.6.3.  (We used an FTP service so before for scanning with an Kyocera printer, but SMB is active as well in case this is imortant?!) Now when I am entering the path of the folder on my printer setup page it does not work, only saying 'not sucessful'

Is there a known compatibility problem with HP and Mac OS Ventura?

So far Apple tells me it's an issue for HP-support and HP-support tells me it's Apple-issue. My private IT-support has no idea.

Maybe someone can help me out.

Hi @Josefa3,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering difficulties with setting up scanning to a network folder on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw from your Mac mini server running macOS Ventura 13.6.3. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Check Network Connectivity: Ensure that both your printer and Mac mini server are connected to the same network and that they can communicate with each other. You can try pinging the printer from your Mac mini server to verify connectivity.
  • Verify Folder Permissions: Make sure that the folder you're trying to scan to has the appropriate permissions set up to allow writing from the printer. Check both sharing permissions and file permissions to ensure they allow access.
  • Use SMB Protocol: Since you mentioned that SMB is active, ensure that you're using the correct SMB path when configuring the scan-to-folder settings on your printer. The SMB path should follow the format smb://server/share where server is the hostname or IP address of your Mac mini server and share is the name of the shared folder.
  • Try Different Authentication Methods: Experiment with different authentication methods when setting up the scan-to-folder feature on your printer. Sometimes using a specific username and password can resolve authentication issues.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw printer. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues with newer operating systems.

By following these steps you should hopefully be able to resolve the scanning issue with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw and macOS Ventura.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
