HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

hp envy 5055 all in one. suddenly my printer is offline. I get a message on my printer saying "Cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP Instant ink." I updated my credit card for Instant Ink, but it didn't help. I have done  all the troubleshooting suggestions from HP Smart and nothing worked.

Hi @jond908,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP Envy 5055 all-in-one printer shows as offline and displays a message like "Cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink," it can be due to issues with the Instant Ink enrollment or connectivity. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Verify HP Instant Ink Enrollment

  • Check Enrollment Status: Ensure that your printer is properly enrolled in the HP Instant Ink program. You can check your enrollment status by logging into your HP Instant Ink account at HP Instant Ink.
  • Update Payment Information: Since you’ve updated your credit card, make sure the information is correctly saved and active in your Instant Ink account.

2. Restart Printer and Devices

  • Power Cycle Printer:
    • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds.
    • Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and check if it resolves the issue.
  • Restart Computer and Router:
    • Restart your computer and router to refresh network connections.

3. Re-enroll Printer in HP Instant Ink

  • Remove and Re-add Printer:
    • Open the HP Smart app or the HP Instant Ink website.
    • Remove the printer from your account and then re-add it.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to re-enroll the printer.

4. Check Printer Connection

  • Wireless Connection:
    • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
    • Go to the printer’s control panel and navigate to the network settings to check the connection status.
  • Printer Status:
    • Print a network configuration page from the printer’s menu to verify connectivity.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Go to the HP Support website and search for firmware updates for your HP Envy 5055.
    • Download and install any available updates to ensure your printer has the latest software.

6. Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Uninstall and Reinstall:
    • Go to Device Manager on your computer (right-click Start menu and select “Device Manager”).
    • Find your printer under “Printers,” right-click it, and select “Uninstall device.”
    • Go to HP’s driver download page and download the latest drivers for your HP Envy 5055.
    • Install the drivers and follow the setup instructions to reconnect the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
