Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Fix Printer Offline Issue
Check Printer Connection
- Ensure the printer is powered on.
- If using Wi-Fi, print a Wireless Test Report from the printer settings.
- If using Ethernet, check the cable connection.
Restart Devices
- Turn off the printer, router, and computer.
- Turn on the router first, wait 2 minutes, then turn on the printer and computer.
Set the Correct Printer as Default
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series and select Set as Default Printer.
Check Printer Status in Windows
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click the printer, select See What’s Printing.
- Click Printer (top menu) and ensure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.
Run Printer Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Select the printer, click Manage > Run the Troubleshooter.
Remove and Reinstall Printer
- Remove the printer from Devices and Printers.
- Uninstall HP Smart and HP Printer Software.
- Restart the computer.
- Download and install the latest HP Full Feature Software from HP’s website.

Fix Scanner Not Detected in HP Smart
Check If Scanner is Recognized
- Open Windows Fax and Scan (from Start menu).
- Click New Scan and check if the printer is listed.
Restart HP Smart and Computer
- Close HP Smart, restart the PC, and reopen the app.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP’s website.
- Select the printer and click Fix Scanning.
Reinstall HP Software
- Uninstall HP Smart and HP Printer Software.
- Restart the PC.
- Reinstall the latest HP drivers from HP’s website.
Check Windows Scan Services
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
- Find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), set it to Automatic, and click Start.HP printer is offline or unavailable
