Hi @BhaskarD,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To troubleshoot and resolve the issue of your HP LaserJet MFP 138fnw printer not connecting to Wi-Fi, try the following steps.

Check Wi-Fi Connection

  • Ensure the printer and router are on the same network: Verify that your printer is within the range of your Wi-Fi router and that the router is functioning properly.
  • Restart the Router: Power off the router for about 30 seconds and then restart it to resolve any temporary network issues.

Reset Network Settings on the Printer

  • Press the Wi-Fi button on the printer to open the Wireless Settings menu.
  • Navigate to Settings > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults.
  • This will reset all network settings and allow you to try reconnecting from scratch.

Re-connect Printer to Wi-Fi

  • On the printer, go to the Wi-Fi Setup screen (this can typically be accessed via the Wireless button or Control Panel menu).
  • Choose Wireless Setup Wizard. The printer will search for available Wi-Fi networks.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the correct password.
  • Wait for the printer to successfully connect to the network.

Ensure Printer Firmware is Up-to-Date

  • Make sure the printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check and update this via the printer's Control Panel or by visiting the HP Support website.

Check for IP Address Conflicts

  • If you're still unable to connect, ensure there are no IP address conflicts on your network. You can assign a static IP to the printer from the router's settings or through the printer's Network Setup options.

Reinstall Printer Software on Your Computer

  • If the printer is still not appearing on the network, uninstall and reinstall the printer software on your computer.
  • Ensure you use the Wireless setup method during installation and follow the on-screen instructions for connecting the printer to Wi-Fi.

If none of these steps work, you can also try connecting the printer to the network via Ethernet (if your router allows for wired connections) and then attempt a wireless connection again after a successful network connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
