Several settings are locked on my printer including the wireless setting. button shows not on, it cannot be turned on, and blue wireless light is blinking. Please send instructions on how to unlock this and other wireless settings that i do not recall ever locking in the first place.

Hi @ghgrip,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you are experiencing issues with locked wireless settings on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and wait for about 30 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in.
- Turn on the printer.
Reset the Wireless Settings:
- On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon.
- Touch the settings icon (gear symbol).
- Scroll down and select "Restore Network Defaults" or a similar option.
- Confirm the action and wait for the printer to restart.
Update Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for firmware updates on the HP support website.
Check Wireless Connection:
- Verify that your wireless network is functioning properly.
- Ensure that the printer is within the range of the wireless router.
Factory Reset (Caution: This will erase all settings):
- On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon.
- Touch the settings icon (gear symbol).
- Scroll down and select "Restore Factory Defaults" or a similar option.
- Confirm the action and wait for the printer to restart.
Reinstall the Printer:
- Remove the printer from your computer or mobile device.
- Reinstall the printer using the original installation CD or by downloading the latest drivers from the HP website.
Remember that performing a factory reset will erase all settings, so make sure to note down any important configurations before proceeding.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I have tried all the troubleshooting tips you listed. Problem is that “person who installed” locked all these options. Except the person is me and i did NOT lock this stuff. So how do i proceed to set the printer back to factory settings?
