Hi @JayDaigle,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP OfficeJet 250 is showing the message "Validating, please wait," it typically indicates that the printer is trying to verify its settings or connection but is stuck in this process. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

2. Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a hard reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it from the power source, and waiting for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear any temporary issues causing the validation message.

3. Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date.
  • Go to the HP Support website and enter your printer model.
  • Download and install any available firmware updates.

4. Check Network Connection:

  • Make sure your printer is properly connected to the network.
  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure that the printer is connected to the correct network and the signal strength is adequate.

5. Check for Error Messages:

  • Look for any error messages on the printer's display or your computer.
  • Address any errors related to paper jams, low ink, or other hardware issues.

6. Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • Access the printer’s control panel.
  • Navigate to the Network or Wireless settings.
  • Select the option to Restore Network Settings or Reset Network Settings.
  • Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

7. Printer Reset:

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, performing a full reset on the printer can help. Note that this will restore the printer to its factory settings:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Hold down the Resume button (triangle icon) and press the Power button.
  • Keep holding the Resume button and release the Power button.
  • Continue holding the Resume button until the attention light (exclamation mark) comes on and stays solid.
  • Release the Resume button. The printer will reset and restart.

8. Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the current printer software from your computer.
  • Download and install the latest printer software from the HP Support website.
  • Follow the prompts to set up your printer again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
