I have spent the past week trying to get my printer to connect to the internet. I attempted wireless, then I attempted direct connection. I go through the websites, HP smart, Official HP support site. FINALLY find the notice that Certain HP Laser Jet Printers- Denial of Service Notice. I have the recent firmware, and I've updated all my devices (which are already updated). uninstalled my printer, RE-installed my printer. Connected directly again to ethernet because it still won't connect wirelessly. I've been down multiple rabbit holes between all the sites that the previous sites suggested I go to next (of course recommending I sign up for ink service along the way, thinking that was the problem) And here I am now. I very aggravated customer, who's ready to throw this printer in the trash and get a Dell. Do better HP, I mean seriously.

Hi @Aggrivated3
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I’m really sorry to hear about the frustrating experience you’ve had trying to connect your HP printer to the internet. It sounds like you’ve put in a lot of effort already, and it’s understandable to feel overwhelmed when things don’t work as they should. Here are a few steps you might try to troubleshoot the connectivity issue further:
Network Configuration
- Make sure your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router if you're trying to connect wirelessly. A weak signal can cause connection issues.
- If you have a dual-band router (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), try connecting your printer to the 2.4 GHz band, as it often has better range.
Reset Network Settings
- You can reset your printer’s network settings to factory defaults. This option is usually found in the settings menu on the printer’s display. After resetting, try setting up the connection again.
Direct Connection Troubles
- When connecting directly via Ethernet, ensure that the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the printer and the router. Also, verify that the router is functioning correctly.
- Check your printer’s IP address (usually available in the network settings) to ensure it’s obtaining an IP address from your router.
HP Smart App
- If you haven’t already, try using the HP Smart app to set up the printer. It often simplifies the process and can help detect issues.
Firewall/Antivirus Settings
- Sometimes, security software can block printer connections. Try temporarily disabling your firewall or antivirus to see if that allows the printer to connect.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
