Hi @jtomeldan,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer is not accepting the Wi-Fi password for your Quantum network, but it can see the network, several issues might be causing this problem.

I have a few questions and troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

Have you double-checked that you are entering the Wi-Fi password correctly, including capitalization and special characters?

Is your Wi-Fi network set to use WPA2 or WPA3 encryption? The printer might not support the latest security protocols.

Is the printer seeing other networks or only your Quantum network? Does it see your network as a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network?

Do you know if the printer has the latest firmware installed? Firmware updates can fix connectivity issues.

Are there any specific settings on your router that might be affecting connectivity, such as MAC address filtering or network isolation?

Is the printer within a good range of the router? Is there any potential interference from other electronic devices?

Meanwhile, you may also try the steps below.

Verify Wi-Fi Password:

  • Ensure that you are entering the Wi-Fi password exactly as it is, including any uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

Check Network Security Settings:

  • Confirm that your router is using WPA2 or WPA3 encryption. The OfficeJet Pro 8600 might have issues with newer encryption methods like WPA3.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart the Printer:
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    2. Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart the Router:
    1. Unplug the router from the power source.
    2. Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for it to fully restart.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @jtomeldan,

Please find the remaining steps below.

Reset Network Settings on Printer:

  • Reset Network Settings:
    1. On the printer control panel, go to Setup.
    2. Select Network or Wireless.
    3. Choose Restore Network Settings and confirm the reset.
    4. After resetting, reconnect the printer to the Wi-Fi network.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check for Updates:
    1. Visit the HP support website and search for your printer model.
    2. Download and install the latest firmware if available.

Manual Network Setup:

  • Manually Enter Network Details:
    1. On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.
    2. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password manually.

Check Router Settings:

  • Verify Router Settings:
    1. Log in to your router’s web interface (usually accessible via a web browser).
    2. Check if MAC address filtering is enabled and if so, either disable it or add the printer’s MAC address to the allowed list.
    3. Ensure that the network is broadcasting on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands if your printer supports both.

Try a Different Network:

  • Test with Another Network:
    • If possible, try connecting the printer to a different Wi-Fi network (e.g., a mobile hotspot) to see if the issue is specific to your home network.

By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to address the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer not accepting the Wi-Fi password.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, it may be necessary to contact HP phone support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
