Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I have a somewhat (very) strange problem. The problem could be explained IF it is true that the combination of my printer and a WIFI-booster interfere with each other in such a way that another device gets disrupted (receives a signal). Without going into detail, is this (in principle) possible? ps: The distance Wifi-booster/printer is only 5 cm.

Hey @jacquessmeets,

Thank you for sharing these details with us. I completely understand your concern regarding the repeated offline issues. Please note that HP printers are designed and recommended to work best on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection. While 5 GHz provides higher speeds, it has a shorter range and is not supported by many HP printer models. For stability and reliable connectivity, especially over longer distances, 2.4 GHz remains the best option.

Also, check the router settings – if it’s configured in router or access point mode, then it can assign a different IP range, which may cause the printer to go offline.

If your printer keeps going offline, one of the most reliable fixes is to assign a static IP to the printer within your router’s DHCP range. That way, even if it reconnects through the repeater, it will always have the same IP.

@jacquessmeets, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Yes — in principle, what you’re describing can happen under certain conditions.

Here’s why:

Wi‑Fi Frequency Bands

Your HP Envy 6022e communicates over Wi‑Fi (usually 2.4 GHz).

Your Wi‑Fi booster/repeater is also operating on the same frequencies.

When two wireless devices are extremely close (5 cm), they can cause RF interference (electromagnetic noise), especially if their antennas are nearly touching.

RF Overload

If the repeater is boosting a strong signal and the printer’s Wi‑Fi radio is right next to it, the printer’s radio front-end can become “overloaded” by the strong signal. This doesn’t just interfere with the printer’s connection but can create harmonics or spurious emissions that could:

Cause your printer to drop connections.

Cause other nearby devices to misbehave (particularly other 2.4 GHz devices, like Bluetooth headsets, smart home devices, or wireless keyboards).

What to Try

Move the Wi‑Fi booster at least 1–2 m away from the printer.

If possible, connect the printer via wired USB or Ethernet temporarily to rule out Wi‑Fi.

If you must keep them near, ensure the booster and printer are on different bands (booster on 5 GHz, printer on 2.4 GHz, for instance).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi, Garp_Senchau, Many thanks. I discussed this earlier with HP-support helpdesk. They told me that increasing the distance repeater/printer would not of any help: I should work without Wifi-repeater! Then I simply stopped the discussion with HP realising that HP is not willing to help me. Fortunately, your answer helped me a lot !
ps: FYI: the "third device" that was influenced was my central heating system: (also connected wireless with my  room thermo-sensor although the heating system is few meters away from the booster/printer location): the heating-system "spontaneously" started to heat the house! That happened during my holiday; the house was heated up to 38 degrees for 5 days! ). This happened at exactly the same time that the connection of the printer with instant-inkt service stopped (I got a message that instant ink had no contact with the printer anymore).
Furthermore, about every two weeks the printer becomes off-line and I have to reconnect again. So, indeed many problems!. ps: I never have WIFI-problems with my phone around the whole house!
1 week ago, I increased the distance printer-WIFI-repeater to 2 m. But within 4 days, again the printer suddenly became off-line again! Thus that did not solve that problem. In the mean-time I have changed the heating system from wireless to wired.  So, there is no "third device" anymore.
Remaining question: The Wifi is operating at 2.4 Ghz. To solve the "repeated printer off-line" problems, would it help to change from 2.4 to 5 Ghz? (basically I prefer 2.4 Ghz because of the longer range, and my Wifi-connection is fast enough. Would appreciate your opinion.

in fact, the problem is solved by changing the heating system to a cabled solution ( no wifi anymore). But Garp_senchau's remark helped a lot. I also increased the repeater/ printer distance to 3 meters.

I think the increased distance booster/printer is successful: no "offline" issues any longer! Thanks.
