Hi @Cacey,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Connecting your wireless printer to a new router involves a few steps to ensure that the printer is properly configured to communicate with the new network. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:

**1. Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi Network

**a. Reset Network Settings on Printer (if needed)

  1. Power On the Printer: Ensure the printer is turned on.
  2. Access Settings Menu: Depending on your printer model, this might be through the touchscreen or physical buttons.
  3. Navigate to Network Settings: Find the network or wireless settings menu.
  4. Reset Network Settings: Look for an option to reset or clear network settings. This might be under a “Setup” or “Wireless Setup” menu.

**b. Reconnect to New Wi-Fi Network

Access Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • Touchscreen Printers: Go to Settings > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Non-Touchscreen Printers: Refer to your printer’s manual for accessing the wireless setup options. It might involve pressing a specific button or combination of buttons.

Select New Network:

  • Choose Your Network: The printer will search for available networks. Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list.
  • Enter Wi-Fi Password: Input your new network’s password. Ensure it’s entered correctly (case-sensitive).

Confirm Connection:

  • Print Network Configuration Page: Some printers have an option to print a network configuration page to confirm that it’s connected to the new network.

**2. Reinstall Printer Software on Computer

**a. Download and Install Latest Printer Drivers

  1. Visit HP Support Website: Go to the HP Support website.
  2. Search for Your Printer Model: Enter your printer’s model number and download the latest drivers and software.
  3. Install Software: Follow the installation instructions. During the setup process, you will be prompted to connect to the printer. Choose the wireless option and follow the prompts to connect.

**b. Add Printer to Your Computer

Open Printers & Scanners Settings:

  • Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • macOS: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.

Add Printer:

  • Windows: Click Add a printer or scanner and select your printer from the list.
  • macOS: Click the + button to add your printer. Select your printer from the list.

**3. Troubleshoot Connection Issues

**a. Ensure Printer is On and Connected

  1. Check Printer Status: Ensure the printer is powered on and not displaying any error messages.
  2. Verify Wi-Fi Signal: Ensure that the printer is within range of your new router and that the signal strength is adequate.

**b. Restart Devices

  1. Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.
  2. Restart Router: Power cycle your router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
  3. Restart Computer: Restart your computer to ensure it can detect the newly connected printer.

**c. Check Router Settings

  1. Verify Network Configuration: Ensure that your router is properly configured and broadcasting the correct SSID (network name).
  2. Check for MAC Filtering: Make sure MAC filtering is disabled or that your printer’s MAC address is allowed if it’s enabled.

**4. Use HP Smart App (if applicable)

**a. Download HP Smart App

Install HP Smart: Download and install the HP Smart app from the HP Smart website or from your device’s app store.

Follow Setup Instructions:

  • Open HP Smart: Launch the HP Smart app and follow the instructions to add your printer to your network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
