Hi @jbullens,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy 6000 series and HP Envy Inspire 7900e printers are showing that Wi-Fi is on but not connecting to the network, here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Restart Devices
- Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it for 30 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on.
- Router: Restart your Wi-Fi router by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in.
Check Printer Connection
- Wireless Setup: Ensure that your printers are in wireless setup mode. You may need to press the Wi-Fi button on the printer to initiate the wireless connection.
- Network Settings: Print a network configuration page from each printer to check their connection status and see if they are connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
Forget and Reconnect
- Forget Network: On the printers, go to the Wi-Fi settings and forget the current network. Then, reconnect by selecting your Wi-Fi network and entering the password.
Update Printer Firmware
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printers. You can typically find this option in the printer settings menu or by using the HP Smart app.
Reinstall Printers
If the above steps don’t work, you can delete and reinstall the printers:
Uninstall the Printers:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners on your computer.
- Select your HP printers and click on Remove device.
Reinstall the Printers:
- Use the HP Smart app or the HP website to add the printers back.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect them to your Wi-Fi network.
Check for Interference
- Ensure there are no devices (like microwaves or cordless phones) that could be interfering with the Wi-Fi signal.

Network Security Settings
- Ensure that the Wi-Fi network security settings (WPA2 or WPA3) are compatible with your printers.
Temporary Connection to Hotspot
- As a last resort, try connecting the printers to a mobile hotspot to see if they can connect to the internet that way. This will help determine if the issue is with the printers or your home network.
Note:
If the printers still do not connect, check if there are any specific error messages displayed on the printer's control panel that can give more insight into the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
