HP DeskJet 4120e All-in-One Printer

My parents have purchased a HP DeskJet 4120e model 26Q94A. I set it up for them using wifi. They only use it roughly once a week, and turn it off when not using it. However when they turn it on they also need to remember to turn on the wifi as well. I was hoping to simplify this by setting the wifi to be on by default, but I cannot find a setting for this. Have I missed something? Is it possible?

Hi @DarrenEMG,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To set the WiFi to be on by default on the HP DeskJet 4120e printer, follow these steps.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same WiFi network as your computer or device.
  • Find the printer's IP address. You can usually find this on the printer's control panel under Network settings or by printing a Network Configuration Page.

Open a Web Browser:

  • Enter the printer's IP address into the address bar of a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox).

Navigate to the EWS:

  • Once you enter the IP address, you should see the printer's Embedded Web Server page.

Login (if required):

  • If prompted for a login, use the administrator credentials. By default, the username is 'admin' and the password is 'admin'.

Navigate to WiFi Settings:

  • Look for a section or tab related to wireless settings. This might be under 'Network', 'Wireless', or 'WiFi'.

Enable WiFi On by Default:

  • In the WiFi settings section, look for an option to set WiFi to be 'Always On' or 'On by Default'. This option may vary depending on the printer model and firmware version.
  • Check the box or toggle the setting to ensure that WiFi remains active even after the printer is powered off and back on.

Save Settings:

  • After making changes, save the settings by clicking 'Apply', 'Save', or a similar option.

Restart the Printer (if necessary):

  • Sometimes changes take effect immediately, but in some cases, you may need to restart the printer for the settings to apply.

If you cannot find an option to set WiFi to be on by default in the printer's Embedded Web Server, it might not be available for this model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
