Hi markofcain,

Thank you for being patient, and working with the other experts to help resolve the issues you are having. Below I have attached an extreme scrub document where you are manually removing folders and registry keys in the attempt to get this printer re-installed on your computer and working correctly. If you continue to experience issues after running these steps please let us know. If there are any steps in this document you feel are over your technical expertise please let me know.

Just out of interest, are you aware of any other printer/scanners of this type, working successfully on the Windows 8 OS?

Could this be down to general compatibility issues such as those that occurred when Microsoft introduced Vista?

In which case should a solution be sought from Microsoft?

I am able to scan using Microsoft Fax and Scan, Microsoft Word and using the webba

Hi markofcain,

If you are able to scan using Microsoft fax and scan, Word then this indicates that WIA - Windows Image Acquisition is working fine. HP software using twain technology, and the error message indicates that the software has not been installed successfully, and Visionary has gone through all other possible troubleshooting steps to get the software installed correctly on your computer. It is completely possible that something in the Win 8 environment is contributing to the installation failure. It's possible that a Win 8 refresh will resolve any issues in the operating system which may be contributing to the installation issues. I have provided the document on how to refresh Win 8 below.

There are only a couple options at this point. You can continue to use the WIA scan method or we can continue trying to get the software for the printer installed successfully for you. Please let me know what you would like to do?

Sorry, maybe I wasn´t clear in my previous message: I`m having the same problem as user markofcain, only diference is that my equipment is HP 7590.

So, I would like to apply the solution detailed on your Post 10,337, which requires previous driver version, that is OJProL7X00_Full_13.exe, I think.

Thanks

Hi Dilha,

OJProL7X00_Full_13.exe is no longer available. Follow the steps below

Step one: Clear temp directory

  1. Type %temp% in the run or search for programs and files field
  2. Highlight all the files in this folder, and then press the delete key to delete. If you get a message that the file is in use you will need to skip this file(s).
  3. Continue with Step 2 below

Step two: Downloaded and extracted to your system:

1. Download the full feature software and drivers

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-79356-2&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=

2. Once the download is finished double click on the file to extract the software.

3. When the installation window opens press the cancel button to stop the installation

4. Type %temp% in the run or search for programs and files field

5. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)

6. Right click on the folder, and select Copy

7. Close that window, and all your open windows, and then in the middle of the desktop right click your mouse, and select Paste. This will move the 7z folder to your desktop.

8. Open the 7z folder you just copied to your desktop

9. Open folder Util

10. Open folder CCC

11. Run the uninstall_L4

12. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

13. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools folder under all programs

14. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

 15. Open the 7z folder, and then double click on the Setup.exe file which will be toward the bottom of the open window. Follow the on screen instructions to reinstall your printer.

Let me know if you are able to successfully install the software and driver, and are able to print & scan?

I had the same problem with my HP Officejet 6500 Wireless printer.

It was conneted via wireless to my laptop, a Toshiba Portégé.

After a reinstallation of the printer, due to a wireless router change, it began to show the 8, [(1,0, -2147221164)] Error, meaning a scanning problem (not possible to scan).

I tried reinstallation of driver software several times and it didn't work.

I tried the solution provided from pcwizard in Message 22 of 28, step-by-step, but that didn't work also.

Finally I got the solution.

I have installed the printer via USB cable first, and I saw that the error disappeared.

Tested scanning function, and it worked fine.

Then, I ran setup again, from inside OJ6500vE709_Full_14 folder, without uninstalling printer, and choose the option Setup Wireless Definitions.

The setup program indentified and configured the wireless connection.

At the end I discarded the USB connection, when asked.

Tested wireless scanning function, and it worked fine, again.

The error disappeared, now everything is working good.

For me, this was the solution.

Hope this can help someone!

Hi pcwizard,

Unfortunately your suggestion on msg 28 didn't solve the problem 😞

Also, capsquare hint didn't work.

Please advice.

Thanks in advance.
