HP Envy 5530 All-In-One
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

I've have had this printer for a little over a year and have never had an issue printing to 4x6 index cards. All of a sudden when I try and print with the same settings the print preview looks right but after it's printed everything is printed on the far left. I have to keep adjusting the left margin moving everything further right and re-print it until what I'm printing is right. I've done all the cleaning and alignment and nothing has helped. I've searched everywhere and can't find an answer. Any and all help is appreciated.

Hey @lonedolphins,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I see that you are having some issues with printing on index cards from your Windows 8.1 PC to your Envy 5530 e-All-in-One Printer. I can help you with that, however I am going to need to know what program you are printing from and if you have this issue when printing index cards in other programs. Once I know that I will be better able to assist you.

Hi DocCottle,

I'm actually running Windows 8.1 not Windows 10. I'm printing the index cards from Microsoft Word 2013. This morning I printed the same doc from my phone using the Microsoft Word app and it printed fine.

Do you have this issue when printing from other programs on your Windows 10 PC? Also do you have this issue when printing on regular paper? This should help me narrow down the issue.

I'm able to print from other programs and on regular paper fine it seems it's just with the 4x6 index cards from Microsoft Word.

If you are having issues with printing from only Word, but other programs or files work, the issue is most likely with Word. If the issue is not specific to Word, this should resolve the issue:

  1. If the printer is connected to your printer through a USB cable, remove it.
  2. Close all programs you have open.
  3. In your search bar type in Printers and open Devices and Printers.
  4. Right-click on any icon of your printer listed.
  5. Click on Remove Device.
  6. Repeat for any other icon of your printer listed.
  7. If you removed the USB cable, connect it. If not, click on Add Printer and follow the prompts to add a print queue to your PC.

If the issue you have is print system related, this should resolve your issue. If the index card still will not print, but prints from the Word app on your phone, the next step would be to contact Microsoft for assistance.

Please let me know if this resolves your issue. If it does, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.

I have a wireless connection. I did however remove the current printer and added it back to no avail. I will take this to Microsoft and hope they have a solution. Thanks for your help.
