Black and white only from android

Hey guys,

I have the HP plugin and all in one app, however when I select an item to print I can only print in black and white. I see the colour option but the only selectable option is black and white. I can print in colour from my laptop though. Any ideas?

I understand that you have issues printing using HP print service plugin.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

Have you updated your smartphone to the latest version?

As you mentioned you are unable to print in color using HP print service plugin.

Refer this article to know Printing from Android Smartphones.

Try using HP eprint app or HP remote AIO app and check if it helps.

Refer this article to know how to use Eprint services.

I have tried your suggestions but there is still no colour option. In the printer details it states ' colour mode: not supported'

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I understand you have tried the steps suggested and still having the issue, don't worry, though as I have a few other steps which should help you to resolve this issue,

Let's try to uninstall this app first and then restart the PC.

Now go ahead and install the HP AIO App and check how it goes.

I'm having the same issue. I have officeject J4680 and when trying to print from my Android device or my wife's I can only print black and white. We both are running Android 7.1.1

Next to printer name it states the IP address of printer followed by [EFDFBF] and then states Black and White.

Printed a test page and it printed in color so this is a bug with the HP plugin in my opinion. I used to be able to print in color but with now it doesn't. Your suggestions for the other user did not work for me.

Have you tried updating the firmware on your printer?

If you are using a Samsung smartphone to print. 

Please refer this article from Samsung website directly and try performing the steps.

How do I update my firmware on my printer?

I do not have Samsung phone, I have a Pixel and Nexus

Kudos to you for trying out the steps.

You can download the firmware on a PC and copy the firmware to a flash drive and connect the flash drive to your printer and update the firmware.

Have you tried printing using HP eprint or HP printer AIO app?

Can you please link me to the firmware update file for the J4680? All I can find is drivers for the computers

I have checked the printer specifications and your printer does not have any firmware updates.

Please uninstall the printer software and update the printer software on your PC and check if it helps.
