Hi Joebhoy,
I can believe that is frustrating. Can you please list the steps you are taking and include a screenshot of your settings? I will then try to reproduce your issue and try to find a solution.

Hi Joebhoy,
Thank you for the screenshots. I noticed that you may be using the in-OS printer driver. I recommend ensuring you have the latest software for your printer. Please go to http://123.hp.com, enter “ENVY 5540” in the search bar and select the “HP ENVY 5540 e-All-in-One Printer” then select “Begin”. Follow the on-screen instructions.
As I went to test the settings in your screenshot today, I noticed that Microsoft pushed out updates (& improvements) to the MS Photos App last night!
I recommend installing the Windows update(s), rebooting your PC and also cycle the power on your printer. Then try printing a photo as follows:
- Open the printer paper tray and ensure the photo tray has photo paper and push the photo tray all the way back into the printer until it stops and then close the paper tray.
- Locate the photo you want to print and then double-click on it.
- Type <Ctrl><p> or select “Print”.
- Select "Photo Tray under “Paper tray”, "10x15cm/4x6in." under “Paper size” and "HP Photo Papers" under “Paper type”.
- Scroll down and select “More settings”.
- On the next screen, scroll down and select “On” under “Borderless printing”.
- Select “OK” then select “Print”.
Hopefully, you will now successfully print the photo.
Note that the resulting photo is not actually "borderless", but rather has small white margins on the sides. This is due to a limitation in the MS Photos app. If you want to print a truly borderless photo, please do the following:
- In the folder where the photo is located, right-click on the photo.
- Select “Print”.
- Make sure your printer is listed in Printer field. Mine is listed as HP ENVY 5540.
- Select "10x15cm/4x6in." under “Paper size” and "HP Photo Papers" under “Paper type”.
- Select the “Options” link in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
- Select “Printer Properties” in the resulting screen.
- Select “Photo Printing-Borderless” in the list of "Printing Shortcuts".
- Select “OK” and then “Print”.
The result should be a completely borderless print out of your photo.
Please let me know if any of this helps!
Kind regards,
-Kay Kay
