Hi,
im about to return this printer. Since I got it every time it's been more than 2 mins or the printer goes into sleeping mode for energy saver, it loses connection. I have to shutdown and turn on the computer every time I want to print. I don't really use my computer but my iPad and cell phones. I can't print after the 5 mins.
Steps i took:
1) uninstalled and reinstalled software on computer and printer (reset)
2) change DNS server to my IP address and then to the google one after mine didn't work
3) restarted router and printer with every change
4) when restarted works fine, airprint or printing from the computer, but then signal is lost even the scanner
5) says wi-if direct is ON but has never worked
6) left IP address automatic and make DNS manual with google DNS
7) my bell hub shows the printer connected even when I have lost signal. I have bell
I'm clueless and frustrated. What am I doing wrong? Please help me! I even sign up for the ink program and now I'm regretting it.

Turn WiFi Direct off in the printer.
These settings are for setting up your wireless (or wired) printer to:
- Stay connected to your router
- Fix printer ‘offline’ status
- Keep all wireless devices better connected
While DHCP is convenient, devices such as printers (wired and wireless) should always be assigned a static (fixed) IP address manually to avoid conflicts on your wireless network and must be outside the DHCP range of the router. After setting the static IP, the computer must be updated under Printer Properties/Ports to show a Standard TCP/IP port with the printers IP address.
- Set a static IP in the printer (click here) outside the DHCP range of the router (check your manual). This is for Linksys routers but can be used for all routers. Verify your DHCP range and change this first if needed. More Wireless Printing help is here and here and even more here. Video here explains the problem and how to fix the problem. <-- So watch this!
- Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off/Sleep/Energy Saving Mode' is disabled and/or the System Mode Time Out is set to zero (0). Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the printers IP address in your browsers address bar, click Settings Tab/Auto Off. Or use the Printer Assistant, Printer Home Page (EWS). Also check your Printer Properties.
- If the printer supports and has IPv6 enabled, turn off IPv6 in the printer.
- Make sure printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not into a UPS, power strip or surge protector. This will cause the printer to drop offline and disconnect (yes verified!).
Additional steps to be taken if you continue to have the problem (if they are posted)…

Thank you!
1) I have the static IP address in the range
2) this printer doesn't allowed me to disabled power saving. I looked and looked but my options are 5,10 & 15 mins
3) I disabled it
4) its directly plug into the wall
still losing connection, I even made my IP address reserved instead of dynamic on my router.
Does the sep up in the computer affects Airprint?
its strange I can also print from tthe computer in those 2 mins when I have connection and all my devises but then the connection is lost.

Let's verify a few things.
Starting DHCP address in the router?
Ending DHCP address in the router?
Static IP address set in the printer?
Please post a screen shot of the Printer Properties/Ports tab showing the printer IP address.

*** Bell said I can use an static IP address from 2 to 500 ***
If Bell said that they are idiots and know nothing. And you don't want that above anyway.
First I do not know why your 192.198.2.1 router address is not working with the HP software (from your post above). Let's see if for some reason, HP does not like that address (totally unknown why), and set your router to the standard IP address.
Be aware that once you change this settings all devices will disconnect and you will just have to recycle/reboot power to have them connect.
In the router change the routers default gateway from 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.1.1. Save config.
Power cycle the router. Once it comes up reboot your computer and verify you can connect to your SSID and the Internet.
When done come back here with the screen shot showing the new Default Gateway address and your devices are fine. We will go from there.

Great! You did it.
Now let's change the DHCP range in the router on that page.
Set the starting address to 192.168.1.100
Set the ending address to 192.168.1.150
Save config and reboot router.
Your STATIC IPs available in the router are now 192.168.1.2 thru .99 and 192.168.1.101 thru 253.
This will give you 50 DHCP address which is plenty for any home.
Before we set the static IP in the printer, let's just see if it connects via DHCP. Which means set the printer back to DHCP for now and connect to the router.
Print out the Network config sheets again and post the one with the...
Gateway Configured and Available status, the one onthe right with the FAIL. I want that to go away.
